Light to medium color with a green edge On the nose its mineral with delicate, classic florals. Its toasty on the palate with fresh doughy characteristics (often referred to as “brioche”) as well as notes of melon, stone fruit, pineapple and guava.
2017 was cool and dry producing one of the most outstanding Chardonnay vintages of the last 10 years. The grapes are from Block A on the Lusatia Park Vineyard. They are hand picked and whole bunch-pressed. The wine is wild-fermented with full mlf (malolactic fermentation) and is matured for 9 months in used barriques.
This particular Chardonnay has a wonderful maritime/mineral quality to it which immediately made us think of pairing with a cream-based crab dish.
